About Phuket

Phuket is Thailand's largest island and its most established beach destination, ringed by sandy bays on the Andaman Sea. The west coast holds the headline beaches, from the neon energy and nightlife of Patong to the calmer family stretches of Kata and Karon. It works as a resort in its own right and as a springboard to some of Southeast Asia's most beautiful waters.

There is more to the island than the beachfront. Phuket Old Town surprises many visitors with its colorful Sino-Portuguese shophouses, cafés, and street art, while boat trips reach the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay and the Phi Phi Islands for snorkeling and island-hopping. Thai food is everywhere and excellent, from night-market stalls to beachside seafood grills.

The dry season from November to April brings the best beach weather and calmest seas. The monsoon months from May to October see heavier rain and stronger surf, though they also bring lush green scenery and lower prices.
